Insights
Editorial standards.
How we write, date, review and correct the insights we publish on cybersecurity, compliance and regulation.
Who writes them
Written by the Threat Protect editorial team.
Our insights are written and reviewed by the Threat Protect team, drawing on the advisory and compliance work we do with clients. We publish them under the team’s name rather than an individual’s, because each one reflects the firm’s view and the firm stands behind it.
How we write
Written clearly, grounded in the source.
Where an insight covers a regulation or a standard, we work from the regulator’s or standards body’s own publications and say plainly what is settled, what is still changing, and what depends on your circumstances.
We write for the people who have to make decisions: boards, risk leads and heads of IT. We lead with the question being asked, and we say when the honest answer is that something is not needed yet.
Independence
Vendor-agnostic, including in what we publish.
Threat Protect is vendor-agnostic, and our insights follow the same rule: they describe problems and approaches, not a particular product. Where we offer a related service, we link to it so you can see it, and we keep the guidance useful whether or not you use us.
Dates and updates
Every insight shows when it was last updated.
Each insight carries the date it was last updated. Regulation moves, so we revisit an insight when the rules it covers change, update the date when we do, and point to our regulation tracker for positions that are still moving.
Corrections
If we have something wrong, tell us.
If you think an insight is inaccurate or out of date, email hello@threatprotect.co.uk with the page and the point in question. We will check it, correct it if we were wrong, and update the date.
What they are not
General guidance, not legal advice.
Our insights are general guidance about cybersecurity, compliance and regulation. They are not legal advice and do not take account of your specific circumstances. For a view on your own position, book a call, and for a legal opinion, speak to a qualified lawyer.
